Air Commodore Graham Pitchfork

Air Commodore Graham Pitchfork MBE BA FRAeS served in the RAF for thirty-six years as a navigator and was awarded the MBE for his part in introducing the Buccaneer into RAF service.

He later commanded a Buccaneer squadron and a flying training base, completing his service as the Director of the Intelligence (Operations) in the Ministry of Defence.

He is the author of the Men Behind the Medals (Pen & Sword, 1998), The Buccaneers (Sutton, 2002), Men Behind the Medals: A New Selection (Sutton, 2003), Shot Down and on the Run (The National Archives, 2003) and Shot Down and in the Drink (The National Archives, 2005).

He is also the aviation obituary writer for the Daily Telegraph, archivist of the Aircrew Association and chairman of the Buccaneer Aircrew Association.

He lives in Gloucestershire.
